2017 Scholarship for Community Service to Youth: Now Accepting Applications

We are now accepting applications for our 2017 Fitchburg Optimist Club Scholarship for Community Service to Youth”, a scholarship awarded to a Fitchburg resident pursuing higher education who is involved working ad/or volunteering with youth in the community.

The Fitchburg Optimist Club is a group of dedicated volunteers from Fitchburg, WI with the mission of “Bringing out the Best in Kids”.

We’re pleased to award a scholarship in the amount of $1000 to a student who is committed to community service and helping “bring out the best” in area youth.

Eligibility Requirements

Eligibility: Open to residents of the City of Fitchburg age 21 or under who will be continuing their education in 2017. The winner is awarded $1000 toward their education/training and there is a potential for an additional secondary award.

Applications are now being accepted and are due at the end of April. Winner will be announced and contacted in May.

Saturday, Feb 4th and Saturday Feb 11th from 1:03 pm.  Ice Skating parties at McKee.  While the skating rink is open to the public all season, the Fitchburg Optimist Club will be opening the warming house at McKee Park and hosting an ice skating party at the rink at McKee Park.  Join us for skating and warm up inside with a cup of cocoa or hot cider and a cookie! Both dates are Saturday’s in February, and we hope you can join us!

Friday, January 29th, 6-8 pm: The Fitchburg Optimist Club is hosting a kids’ party for families at The Legacy Academy – all children must have an adult with them.  It’s a night of open gym featuring tons of activities and games, basketball, arcade games, tumbling and climbing, and tons of fun ways to burn off some winter energy and get to know other Fitchburg families.  Join us for a Friday night of fun at Legacy Academy!


This event is free and open to the public, sponsored by the Fitchburg Optimist Club. Capacity is limited so come early!

Sunday, December 13th, 1 – 4 pm:  Volunteers from the Fitchburg Optimist Club will be making multi-colored popcorn balls with kids as a part of the city holiday party at the community center. The party features a lot of fun and activities for kids made possible by the parks and recreation department.  We heard a rumor that Santa might be showing up too – we hope to see you before the Packers game for some holiday family fun!
